Great question and answer, I just had the same problem (I'm using version 9) and I changed to the 3D back view and I hope that will work, we'll see...

Door / window handing in interactive schedules

<T>Why is it that the interactive schedule allows you to show the front or rear view of a door or window but it does not show the correct handing.

For example if you have two doors in a room, one hinged on the left and the other hinged on the right, the diagramatic depiction of the doors in the schedule will both be the same.
Even though if you list the orientation they are clearly noted as being opposites.

It seems it just shows a default image of the object from the library but using the settings of the object placed in the plan.
It totally ignores the orientation that the door / window has been placed in plan for the graphical depiction.

Do others find this is the case also or is it just something I am not doing correctly?

Barry.

PS we show the door swings and opening sash directions on our objects in plan and elevation. These show up in the schedule but not the same as they are in the plan.</T>

Do they show the same as on the elevation?

No, in the example above the elevation shows each door swinging different ways - plans and elevations are perfect.

It is just the Interactive Schedule that shows the default view as it is in the object setting dialogue - regardless of which way the door is handed.
I checked with a graphical list from the Calculate > List Elements menu too and got the same result.

Maybe it is just a V81 thing.
Has anyone using V81 noticed this and does this happen with anyone using it in V90?

I had tried placing doors/windows in different directions and also with them mirrored but all with the same result.

I did get to try out a demo of V90 last night with the same file and library from V81 and it worked perfectly.
So it must be an 8.1 bug.

Is there anyone that uses the Interactive Schedule in 8.1 that can confirm what I am seeing?

Thanks,
Sorry if I deviate slightly, but I´d like to ask one question. How do you get to see a frontal view of the door with IS?
I tried it myself by adding the 3d view parameter to the schedules, but nothing shows....where´s the bunny?

In the fields you should see "3D back view" and "3D front view".
Selecting either or both of these should be all you need to do.

Make sure you are editing the correct schedule and not "Last selected settings" as this will make the changes for all future schedules you do.
Then either place a new schedule in the plan or select the existing one and in its settings be sure to select the correct schedule again and then "Update".

At least this is all I am doing.
No special scripting is needed in the objects - this is only needed if you want to set up a graphical list to use with the "List Elements" command.
Thanks Barry.
And following your description, everything went well. The silly part of it is that I never had previously placed it on the plan, and was only previewing the schedule where the views naturally aren´t seen
