The LIS file would be an irrelevant format in this case LIS is an internal file structure for producing schedules (sometimes called a List Scheme).

The Tekla teammember needs to export an XML file - you need to locate a translator and the manual found on this page:
Import Steelwork models ?

<T>Does anyone import steelwork models from other structural design programs and then use Archicad to build the building around them ?

I work for a building contractor and we're currently researching the use of 3D models as both a marketing also a scheduling tool etc. I know I can build a steel frame within Archicad but it won't be as precise as the steelwork contractor can do it on his own software. I often see nice 3D isometric drawings of steelwork, it would be nice just to import them and build around.

Anyone know if any steelwork software can export into a 3D format recognised by Archicad and does anyone work this way?</T>

hi jus

check out the archicad solutions/structural page here...

<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.graphisoft.com/products/arch ... tural.html">http://www.graphisoft.com/products/archicad/solutions/structural.html</LINK_TEXT>

there is plenty of information regarding archicad's structural connections . . . along with import/export add-ons for each structural solution.

cheers!
Does anyone know how a *ArchiCAD List Setup File* works ? A steelwork contractor has exported a steel frame from Tekla Structures into what I thought was an XML file, however, the extension is *.LIS and is recognised by PC as an ArchiCAD List Setup File.
