My best recommendation is to get a multibutton scroll mouse. Almost any third party mouse will work automatically with OSX.

How do you pan, zoom and move around in the viewport using only the mouse?

I have an iMac with OSX installed and it's PPC. i set it at home and installed the educational version of AC 10, provided by the local dealer. The mouse is one-button with no wheel, of course.

Is there a key I should press?
It's very annoying to use the buttons for each and every step.
