For your information

I am running AC 8.1 with a ASUSV9280 w/ 128 MB DDR and find it very stable and fast, have it for almost a year now so I assume the 9800 is a newer model.
i had a client come in the other day who had a new machine with a 9800XT in it. whenever the openGL 2d acceleration is turned on, the onscreen elements smear across the screen(ie. mouse has a trail all the way across the screen). When i turned the 2d accel. off it was fien again. the machine was so fast it didnt need the 2d acceleration anyway though.

They more than likely didn't have the updated ATI drivers. We have a 9800 on one of our machines, and it runs liquid smooth.

same goes to mine, it runs liquid smooth. only thing you will need to pay attention to is the new driver release by Ati every now and then. would be good if you update the new drivers.

well, guys, i've heard about the new release of graphics card by nvidia and ati.
nvidia released 6800 ultra, which is almost twice the speed and performance of 9800xt.
as for ati, they released the new flagship X800xt. it's more than twice the performance of 9800xt! pheew!

wonder if anyone out there tested it on archicad before?
