Hi Link, I only deleted the Bug Report preferences to no avail ( I did not restart the computer after doing it though).

I'm on a Mac, the preferences files have a .prefs extension. There are some .prf files in Archicad as well, I've got (3) FavoriteDefs.prf files and two RCC Favorites.prf files. Did you mean these?

Do you know if which ones I should delete?
Could you be more specific please?
Thanks

<T>I have the folowing problem:
Every time I quit Archicad and Plotmaker they crash. The Bug report program is launched. This happens also when BG Archicad self quits.
I have sent the BG report to GS in Boston. They asked me to reset the wibu driver, which I did. The problem subsists, I hope to hear more from them soon. I have not lost any data yet during these occurences, all information is saved OK and all other behaviuor is normal. It happens with ALL files.
I have not reinstalled the program yet.
My HD is 70 GB and has about 30 GB left.
Any hints as to which may be the problem or a posible solution?
Any preferences files to toss away safely might help?
Could it be conflicting with the active Virex (protection) or other software?
Thanks
1. Close ArchiCAD and all other running applications.
2. (notice: the word "clear" in the next few commands, mean that the user may back up these files to the desktop via a Copy)
3. Clear pref's:

MAC (2 locations)
Macintosh HD: Users: <USERNAME>: Library : Preferences : Graphisoft : AC 8.1.0 v2 (or AC 9.0.0 USA v1)

Macintosh HD: Users: <USERNAME>: Library : Preferences : Graphisoft : PM 3.1.0 v2 (or PM 9.0.0 USA v1)

WIN (2 locations)
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Graphisoft\ArchiCAD 8.1.0 USA R1 (or ArchiCAD 9.0.0 USA R1)
(and)
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Graphisoft\PlotMaker 3.1.0 USA R1 (or PlotMaker 9.0.0 USA R1)

4.) Clear cache's:

MAC (2 locations)
Macintosh HD: Users: <USERNAME>: Library : Caches : Graphisoft : ArchiCAD Cache Folder : AC 8.1.0 v1 (or AC 9.0.0 USA v1)

Macintosh HD: Users: <USERNAME>: Library : Caches : Graphisoft : PlotMaker Cache Folder : PM 3.1.0 v1 (or PM 9.0.0 USA v1)

WIN cache locations (4 locations)
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Graphisoft\ArchiCAD Cache Folder\ArchiCAD 8.1.0 USA R2 (or ArchiCAD 9.0.0 USA R1)
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Graphisoft\PlotMaker Cache Folder\ArchiCAD 8.1.0 USA R2 (or ArchiCAD 9.0.0 USA R1)
- Clear the local Cache:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Temp
- Clear the Windows cache:
C:\WINDOWS\Temp

5.) Start ArchiCAD/PlotMaker and see how your file now behaves.

Cheers,
Hi Woody,
Unfortunately following the preferences/cache instructions you sent did not fix the problem, still crashing.

I wasn't sure what you meant by "Copy" to the desktop. I just dragged the folders to the desktop and restarted the programs. New folders were created which I replaced back with the old ones since the problem was not fixed.

Any idea what should be done next?
If I need to reinstall the software, do you know if it is OK to save my personal WE settings and add them to the newly created folders?
Thanks
I'll have to think about that. Just on a lark I might upgrade to 10.3.7
I can't see any reason why that would cause a problem.
I have experienced similiar issues w/8.1 (not yet in 9.0). AC would crash at quitting - but not every time. I too, lost no data (yet). It seemed to happen when I was moving too quickly - doing a hard save and then hitting CMD-Q to quit before the save had finished. If I was more patient and waited until the save was done (count to 5 s l o w l y) I had better results. I would also get crashes if AC asked to save changes after quitting. It seems that when you're moving along too quickly, and you start another command before AC finishes the one it's working on - sometimes zooming around too fast and starting another command before the redraw is finished gets me - it gets confused and crashes. I've had better luck w/9.
Yes, moving fast and being impatient does seem have a negative effect. I have been stopped short doing those hasty moves.
I have also been overloading the capacity of the machine by running too many applications at the same time.

So I've removed all the aforementioned files, uninstalled the software and made a clean install, all lead to the same result. AC/PM/BGAC all crash after quitting. They don't crash however if I make them 'Force Quit'

For those of you who may see a problem in it, here's a partial transcript of the Apple crash report on a clean install of Archicad but without the GS Bug Report software:
we've had this problem crop up on a few different machines -all G5's to date. Deleting preferences and caches fixed the problem. I'm narrowing down which one(s) are the problems and will send to GS.

Remember to export your work environment to the server or someplace else to save all your menu positions and key shortcuts. Then deleting the folders isn't such a problem.

will report any further news.
I finally cured (fingers, toes and eyes crossed) this problem. I had tried deleting pref & cache files: no success; I deleted pref & cache files, removed and reinstalled Archicad: no success. I cursed my machine, I cursed the gods, I never shut Archicad off.

I finally deleted every pref and cache file, including anything remotely referring to Archicad, Plotmaker or Graphisoft (ie: com.graphisoft.ArchiCAD.plist). I deleted Archicad. I rebuilt permissions, shut down, restarted and rebuilt permissions again (using System Optimizer X); rechecked all pref & cache files to make sure they were all gone. Restart, reinstall Archicad, run updates. Finally no more crashes on closing (for three days now....)

So, I have gone over all of your postings here.
My ArchiCAD 10 is crashing, hence, my arrival here.
Some times it crashes when I save, sometimes between 2D and 3D modes, sometimes randomly, but always when I open a section I have here.

I have this wall that is labeled 071. I went through and deleted all of the 071 walls in the project that i could find. They were custom profile walls. But, now they are gone, I thought.
But when I open one section it still tells me that "polygon is degenerated at wall 071"

Argh!
Crash crash crash crash... etc.
Also, one of my other files is crashing as well, randomly it seems.

OK-what do I do about this, and how do I find all 071 walls?

Thanks
