Power Book or Apple iBook M9627LLA Notebook Power Book use

I am looking to buy a field use power Book/iBook for as built and client presentations and miscellaneous work, not as a main platform for ArchiCAD work. any suggestions from user as to what model/type/GHz to buy?

i've been using a powerbook with the specs below for some time now. i can run several session of archiCAD/plotmaker along with a whole host of other apps without too much trouble at all.

it's also been clunking around the world in my rucksack for the last 4 months, so is pretty tough!

one thing you may want to consider is an extra battery - they do run out way quicker than expected . . . and you wouldn't want that happening mid presentation

thanks for a speedy reply!
I am considering the Apple iBook M9627LLA Notebook, it's about $1400 with a memory upgrade of 1GB. The processor is 1.33 GHz G4
which makes it almost as fast as my upgraded G4 1.44!
The only other thing is the screen, it's a 14" - should that be enough?

nope. it's never enough! i can just about get by with my 15" screen. i guess if all you want is something to present on . . .

iBook short on VRAM - 32 mg is bare minimum for OpenGL navigating.

No extra juice for second display.... when you work with a laptop, you need a second display to really get going on a project.

I use a G4 Titanium from three years ago that was my main machine for a year. Runs ArchiCAD fine.

I was going to max out the memory and VRam, is it upgradeable?
-Was hoping for 64M at least..?
Not to use as a primary work horse mind you, just for -'Show and Tell..'

then 12" ibook is way to go as can drive projector or reasonable display in mirror mode - but will be weak on real time walk thru where Powerbook better - GPU card.

I find 12" machines are so easy to manage, compared.... especially on a plane where the 15" machine is just too big. Me not first class passenger: only steerage. Guys like me fall comatose from airplane nose wheel compartments - cold air temperature in nose wheel place bad for battery. Always get extra battery- find aftermarket guys for it.

My next laptop will be tiny - to save for next monster desktop unit.

Send iBook Vram complaints to Apple.
Their response: Get Powerbook, schnook!

Still, if so, go for 12" Powerbook..... chicks will think it cute.

12 inch powerbook.

IF you really don't want to show the client too much you can always let them look at the powerbook screen and not a projector.

But keep a beast in the office for real work, or you may get distracted

Thanks all for the suggestions.
I think I am convinced to buy the Powerbook and max out the memory.
Might go for the 15" instead of the 12" -seems so small...
I will try to get the Mac dealer to demonstrate the ArchiCAD use on the 12...
