I think Mike is right. The plan view controls for the wall are the key. Unfortunately, the possibilities are almost endless which makes the whole process of making your plan view look "correct" a huge chore in AC 10.
In addition, the elevation of your wall relative to the cut plane has an effect on the way these plan view controls work. It quickly becomes very confusing.

<T>Hello friends,
In the attached image the settings are the same for each Complex Wall. The only difference is that one was custom made from a fill and the other is a standard Complex Wall Profile that came with AC10. Please note that the separator lines are missing from the custom created profile. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
Thanks,
Creating the complex profile elements can be, well, complex. I am still getting used to all the various possibilities, so I don't have a quick answer for you. I am having no trouble getting the separator lines to show up, etc. Try fooling around with the editor. The "Profile Uniform Colors" might do the trick for you. Use the "Override" button to apply the settings.

Matthew,
Thanks for the thoughts. I have tried all your suggestions still without luck. Have you tried making a custom profile complex wall from fills, and have the separation lines display properly in plan view? I'm leaning toward bug as there also seem to be some strange things in the complex wall settings DB. Please see attached.
Thanks again,
Eric,
Excellent info. In my test profiles with 'Projected w. Overhead' and 'Show Entire Element' selected, the plan display properly shows the cut portion of the wall, and some but not all of the projected lines down, but does not show any overhead lines above. Also note the irregularities in my screenshot of the Wall Settings DB from an earlier post.
I'm sort of guessing here, after going through this myself last week. You could post a module file of the complex profile wall and I could take a look at it.

To make a module file:

1. Select your complex profile
2. Copy it to the clipboard (CTRL-C)
3. From the File Menu choose Save As, and select Module File from Clipboard as the file format (.mod)

I don't know that I've tried this with a complex profile before, but I should be able to simply merge it into a file and have the same profile.

Scott,
In an attempt to fix my own problems I stumbled across your post. What I am trying to do now is adjust my floor cut plane located in the document tab. This I'm sure is the tool we both need to fix our problem. The key, which I am still trying to figure out, is how to use it best. The nice thing is that you can set each individual wall to different cut planes so like me, my perpendicular walls are 1/2 a log course off-set, I can then use two different cut planes to get the desired overhead line results. Hope this help, let me know how it turns out for you.

Demetious,
In our problem the cut plane height is not the issue. The plan view generally shows correctly the cut of the wall and the limits of the profile, but misses some of the other projected lines. This is not the end of the world but brings into question consistency. Lines viewed in plan view can vary from profile to profile. See another example of inconsistency attached.
Thanks,
Scott,
I see what you mean now, sorry for the confusion. I'm not really sure what that means for you but it sounds like your on the right track with an inconsistency. These profiles are not as user friendly as I hoped they would be but they are very powerful because of the many options you can do with them. Maybe my problem then is the same thing you are experiencing because even adjusting the cut planes I cannot seem to get my lines to come out right in floor plan.

Scott

You've probably figured this out by now, but it may help others...

In reply to your image Complex Troubles 2.jpg, please see my attachment.

The elevation measurement that 'oddly shows to the top of the footing' is to indicate that it really is measured to the local origin of the profile. In the Profile Editor each profile has it's own local origin indicated by a +. That's where the wall's placement height is measured from. You can elevate the wall until the cows come home, but the measurement will always relate to that local origin.

The width is measured from the maximum width of the profile, but you can only change it if you have the horizontal stretch activated.

Cheers,
