The pen settings in Archicad would need to be the same as Plotmaker's in order for them to look the same. It's kind of a reverse matching: Make sure Archicad's pen weights/thicknesses match the ones being used in Plotmaker so that they look the same.

Are you saying that when you zoom in, the lines look correct in Archicad? Or they do not look correct in Archicad ever?

<T>when i set line weight in display options to "true weight" the effect is miniscule compared to when set at "hair lines". its a useless setting to me because when i get to plotmaker and view line weights there they are represented correctly and its always a surprise.

this is a real problem for me.

I don't accept your explanation.

It is true that in archicad you have to zoom way in o see any line weight differences but even then the weights are not accurately presented.

I don't have to zoom in like that in other programs like say illustrator, photo shop, rudimentary 2d drawing programs.

Also, isn't it interesting that that in plotmaker, on that same low res screen, i don't have to zoom in at all : the line weight differences are completely apparent.

Its a problem that should be fixed.
At 100% Zoom, the screen should look almost like the actual plot. 100% Zoom is a litte closer than most people work, but it works fine for me. Does yours not work?

That's assuming that your pen weights are actually set up in Archicad as well as Plotmaker. Have you checked that they are set the same yet?

OK. Are you sure the Pen Weights are set in Archicad? (found under Options > Attribute Settings > Pens & Colors)
That seems like the most likely culprit.

yes, they are all individually set to different wieghts. that is how come they read as they should in plotmaker.

they just will not read in archicad, even w/ true line weights set.

is there any other possible setting that would cause this?
Donald,

In your 2D settings, have you enabled 2D acceleration (OpenGL)? If so, turn it offf and see what happens. There is really almost no advantage to enabling OpenGL in 2D ... and it could be that there is a problem there that is causing what you see.

In 8.1, this was a Preference. In 9, this is in the Work Environment under 2D Redraw Options. Make sure you have not checked "Optimize drawing method for high performance display". (Or, what the heck, if it isn't checked, try checking it and see if that helps.)
