OR:

Render an elevation instead of solely using an analytical view.

Merge the two view types by placing the rendered elevation as a figure.

<T>when i select the model it just gives the elevation a general colour, and the texture is visible in perspective, but i want to see the textures in the elevations also.
thank you</T>

To turn on your textures in elevations you need to select your elevation markers and select the Vectorial 3D hatching for uncut elements option. This will then show your textures in 3D and on your elevations (which are views of the 3D)
I´m intrested in the same thing.
Lets say that you have a wall on wich you have put a texture on.
The texture shows in both "internal 3D" and when you render.

But can I get it to automatic show in my section view?

Or do i need to use for example the FIGURE tool and put it on manually in the section view?

Cheers/
This is not true. This method will NOT give textures (raster images mapped to solids such as walls, etc). This is part of the terrible split in archiCAD between the open GL 3d engine and the crusty old internal engine.

I think Dwight's method is the easiest pain-in-the-asss workaround that you should not have to do but must do. This is particularly galling when you use the picture object and want to display the placed image in an elevation (particularly when said image is non orthogonal to the section/elevation.)

It's lame shortcomings like these that make using AC a less-then-wonderful experience.
