Can't open a particular file AC 15

I was working on a solo project file all day, no problems. Towards the end of the day, it starts running really slow, taking a while in between operations, even giving me a spinning waiting wheel just to pan across the floor plan.

So I save and shut down, restart my computer, thinking I a reboot might help. Now I cannot open the file at all. goes through all the normal loading and part 1 of x windows and then gets to the library loading report and I'm stuck on spinning wait wheel. Tried the back up file, same problem.

I got no error messages, or warning messages, just started running slow, and now won't open.

I'm assuming I've lost all the work I did today, but does anybody have any ideas?

AC15 on Mac 10.6.8

Try this:
Open a new project and MERGE that problematic project in it.

make sure you have the latest hotfix installed
