Experiencing the same problem when placing an external drawing in a worksheet.

Problem occured moreso in AC13 than 12.

DWG versions ranged from 2004 to present, but most crashes occured with 2009 onward versions.

<T>ArchiCAD 13 crashes on opening or attaching xref, have tried different translators and new & reset, has anybody else experienced this.

Do I need to reinstall 12 to continue working with consultants and colleagues files?
Are you working directly in the DWG info or just referencing it? If the latter can you place the DWG as a Drawing?

First check that your DWG translator is set to the version of autocad that you are working with.
If it's not available or not working, you can use the free TRUEVIEW, a free download on the Autodesk site, to save back the dwg to an earlier version.
Better yet, ask your consultant who supplied the DWG to do it for you.
