topic ArchiCAD 12 is crashing my brand new computer? in Installation & update

<T>I have a new laptop that is crashing when I am using ArchiCAD 12. It seems to be a graphics card issue - I get a Windows error regarding the video driver and then ArchiCAD locks up.
I'm running Vista, 3 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 w/ 256 MB.
I've checked the video drivers and they are up to date. Any ideas would be much appreciated!</T>

Try setting your machine to Vista Basic instead of the full shiny transparent Aero.
Right click on your desktop and go to 'Personalize', and then hit 'Window Colour and Appearance'.
The ATI drivers for Vista are still, unfortunately, pretty nasty. We have similar problems on a laptop with an ATI card here, and the Vista Basic thing made it work fine.

I just posted a similar question in "Graphics Cards." Archicad 12 was crashing and sometimes locking-up my new computer, which required a re-boot. You may have my solution here.
Thanks
