My computer freezes everytime I click view in 3D-mode

I got a slight problem with ArchiCAD; read topic line:)

This is the second time I've installed ArchiCAD on my computer, first I installed the trial version, and then, due to some issues, I had to reinstall the program (with a student license nr)

I've drawn the whole first floor of the apartment im drawing, and when i click "3D view" my computer freezes, the music cuts off, the computer mouse freezes. I cant even click the start menu, not even ctrl+alt+delete will work.
( This is the first time im trying it since the reinnstallation, ive never experienced any problems like this with the old one)

Has anyone experienced problems like this before? Or can anyone help me? I have an assignement to deliver in 2 days -.-

It would help if you list your machine specs and op sys with as much detail as you can.

You might want to list your video card and what version of AC.
I'm assuming 12E but you will get faster help with more info.
But so far what you have listed is a bit more than I'm running right now with no problems on fully documented 3 story house. 12 is way faster than 11.
How many megs is your .pln that's crashing?
Do you have a lot of landscaping?
Try posting a floor plan of your model here.
I'm not a techy but others will be more likely to help with more info.

i managed to narrow the problem down a bit. Its whenever i click "OpenGL Engine". So i can view perspective in "Internal 3D Engine" but not OpenGL.

My graphic/video card is : ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2

Try a graphics card driver update and see if that helps with OpenGL.

I seem to remember people having problems with this card before. See here for example. http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=140124&highlight=4870#140124

It could be something to do with vista? Try disabling Aero perhaps?

Also see if this helps -

Go to 'View' > '3d View Mode' > '3d Window Settings'

Select 'OpenGL' as the 3d engine, then click 'Options' next to it.

Try selecting or deselecting the 'Ignore Hardware Acceleration in 3D' checkbox, and also try reducing the frames per second and radius settings if excessive.

Maybe speak to your local reseller if you still have problems.
