Great. Please report back to the community here if following the article (to repair) fixes things, and if a Time Machine restore and copy to the other computer gets you up on 3006.

Can anyone verify the latest build for AC15 on Mac? When I use the Check for Updates command, it goes to the website and confirms that I have the most recent build 3003. However, I see lots of references to build 3006 and a collaborator I am trying to work with has build 3006, so we can't work together. What is going on here?

It's one of the most bizarre things, particularly because of the TW conflict.

Graphisoft burned the DVD's with build 3003. During production, they found some bugs that were fixed in build 3006 which is available for free download at myarchicad.com (after you create a login). But, for some strange reason that has never been announced. They did not release 3006 as a hotfix to 3003, so Check for Updates says you are up-to-date. Weird, huh?

Really have no idea what they were thinking.

You'll want to download 3006 ("American" version) from myarchicad.com so that you can work with your collaborators who are on that build.

Cheers,

Thanks for the answer to my question. Clearly Graphisoft knew they would be creating problems by keeping this quiet and doing nothing to remedy it. If they only knew how much of our valuable time this has consumed and what delays they have created. Would have been nice of them to have either created a special download site or mail out a fix to all of us who received the bad build number. Not a good way to start a new version.

Thanks again for your help.
Could anyone post what the "bug" differences are between build 3003 and 3006?

I've already installed the BIM Server 15 Module and AC15 on several workstations with build 3003 which is off of the installation DVDS as stated. If the "bug" differences are impacting, then I would look into reinstalling the BIM Server 15 Module and those several AC15 instances. Unless there is an easier way to upgrade from 3003 to 3006 other than reinstalling?
Just wanted to chime in with my experience...

Upon downloading the 3006, it asks if you want to ADD or REPAIR... I figured ADD was the correct choice, but it does NOTHING...

Repair then asks if you want to BACK UP first... I said no as I just installed the 3003, so there was nothing to keep...

Anyway REPAIR takes only a minute or so... relatively painless.

I have NO IDEA what was fixed...

Slightly off topic... Its a bugger that the BUILD NUMBER no longer shows on startup.... So you have to open all the way up to check which build you're in.

AGREED!! I wish they would bring it back. That way I would know if one of the ArchiCAD stations here is not connecting to the BIM Server because of different build numbers. It's common for me to check build numbers for diagnosis. If I could see the build number on the splash screen, then I would just click Quit ArchiCAD from the startup screen without having to open all the way further as you mentioned.

If there are other ways of finding out build numbers without needing to open ArchiCAD pass the Start Up screen, I'm all eyes here. Because I continued off topic with Dwayne - I'm still all eyes with the bug differences between 3003 and 3006

The differences between 3003 and 3006 are the following:
- a bug that only affects the TRIAL mode (this is why 3006 is available on myarchicad.com instead of 3003)
- a bug that may cause a crash when editing shells in a specific way
- a problem that occurs with trim to roof under special circumstances
- a bug with library parts in Teamwork files that only occurs if you have both BIM server 13 and 15 installed.

As a general rule, I would recommend to keep build 3003 and wait for the first Hotfix.

The only scenario where you have to use build 3006 is if you need to run BIM server 13, 14 and 15 modules together. I recommend against this: I recommend uninstalling the 13 module before installing 15, regardless of the bug in build 3003. But if you have Teamwork projects in all 3 versions, then you need to install build 3006 because of this bug:
<LINK_TEXT text="http://archicadwiki.com/Bugs/Teamwork/L ... d15Upgrade">http://archicadwiki.com/Bugs/Teamwork/LibrariesNotFoundAfterArchicad15Upgrade</LINK_TEXT>

We have written about this issue on ArchicadWiki, and in our June ArchiPLUS Newsletter.

Just find the "Archicad.exe" file (in Program Files) and right click on it and choose "properties".
This of course is on Windows - I am sure you can do similar on a Mac.
Yes, something is amiss in the way GS is reporting version info on the Mac because they always use, e.g., 15.0.0 as the version and then a separate build number unlike all (?) other apps that show the build (essentially) as a component of the version number.

You CAN find the build on a Mac with a couple extra steps. Right-click the ArchiCAD App and do a Show Package Contents, then examine Contents > Info.pist as in attached screenshot.
Hi Karl,

I took a chance and upgraded my computers to "Lion" (played with developers versions with no issues) and of course my BIM Servers (13,14,15) are giving me all kinds of error messages. Tracking them down revealed that one of my iMacs was running build 3006 and the other 3003. As you suggested, I downloaded the latest "American" version from myarchicad.com (the only one available for Mac) and it turned out to be 3003! I haven't a clue on how to get 3006 onto my computer running 3003. Any thoughts? I may just uninstall AC15 and reinstall from discs to get me back to 3003 and then deal with my BIM Server issues. Thanks in advance!
Hi Tom,

That's indeed odd about receiving build 3003 from myarchicad.com - that's where I downloaded my copy of build 3006. Surprising that they would change the file to the lower version number.

You "should" be able to copy the ArchiCAD program folder from one Mac to another (directly or via a zip/dmg), as AFAIK, the only other thing installed by the AC installer is the WIBU/Codemeter driver, which has not changed. Such tricks don't work for BIM Server AFAIK, since it installs other stuff here and there.

For your BIM Server under Lion, check out this article if you haven't seen it:
http://archicadwiki.com/Teamwork/BimServerLionMigration

There are reports of certain aspects of AC running slower under Lion than Snow Leopard - it will be interesting to hear your experiences in this thread:
Thanks Karl!

Yeah, I was surprised that the download was 3003. I then uninstalled/reinstalled AC15 (3003) and thought I was in the clear till I opened a project on my BIM Server 15 and discovered it was unusable, for the moment, because it was "Created" (unknowingly) in Build 3006. So now I still have to figure out how to Build 3006 back on one and then my other computers. I'm thinking Time Machine will do the trick.

The ArchiCADWiki article fully addressed my BIM Server issues, at least in writing. I'll follow it's instructions and hopefully resolve my issues.

Karl wrote:
Great. Please report back to the community here if following the article (to repair) fixes things, and if a Time Machine restore and copy to the other computer gets you up on 3006.

Good news is that Time Machine worked flawlessly across OSX versions.

Not so good news regarding my BIM Server issues. Luckily I was able to mess around with my home (practice) BIM Server while not risking screwing up my office BIM Server.

Short answer: Nothing seemed to work as described in the ArchiCADWiki article(s)—no big surprise there. I was able to copy back from Time Machine a good Build 3006 copy of AC15 and move it around to my home computers. But, apparently, the BIM Server 15 was still Build 3003, so that didn't work. Error messages galore! Eventually decided to scrap everything, after backing everything up, of course. I uninstalled BIM Servers 13/14/15 and AC versions 13/14/15 and started fresh from original install disks. Ran into error messages referencing BIM Server installations that were "officially" uninstalled. Turns out that the uninstaller app(s) leaves a few testy files around, just enough to aggravate the process. After trashing three "com.graphisoft.BIM Server.plist" files from my Library/Preferences folder the error messages stopped. Eventually I was able to get a BIM Server 15 (Build 3003) with 13 & 14 Modules up and running with everything playing nice together—whew!

Will I upgrade my office Macs to OS Lion? No way! I'm gonna wait and see what others are experiencing and then bravely go where many have gone before!

BTW: I'm still unclear as to how I got Build 3006 on one of my stations and none of the others. Checking for updates still says that 3003 is the most recent update.
