I noticed that AC12 is much slower than previous versions. It was too slow to work with so I built a monster computer compared to my old one. AC12 is still slower than it should be, compared to AutoCAD and Revit, and AC 11, AC10, etc. AC12 is slow DOG!

<T>I am noticing that when drawing lines, or stretching fills, etc. that AC12 is
very sluggish (movement on screen is behind my curser and jumpy)
Could this be caused by the video card? I am not very happy with this card, text is fuzzy and dotted lines don't read at all zoom levels.

Also, when zooming in and out, AC10 would halt true weight lines for a
moment which was very helpful, AC12 is not exhibiting this feature.
Does anyone know how to have 12 do this?

Thanks</T>

go into your Work Environment settings(from the Options menu), and go to the 'Advanced Redraw Options' page. Check that your 'Model Display in 2D Navigation' is set to simplified, and that 2D Antialiasing it turned off.
The first option should speed things up a bit and make the model not show True Line Weights when you pan/zoom, and the second option should make things a lot faster.
Those settings were as you suggested.

Model display = simplified

2D drawing Antialiasing = unchecked

I liked the way AC10 would shift to hairlines when zooming in and out
with the mouse wheel, AC12 stays true weight all the time, panning or zooming. I noticed they did add the true line weight toggle to the right click menu, I hope that doesn't mean that feature is gone forever.
It really helped distinguish one line from another.

The sluggish thing really has me concerned, it should not be this bad.
I may need to take this machine into sager to see if its something more
serious before my 30 days runs out.

I wonder if it could be that this is a project that was started in AC10?

If you built or upgraded your computer hardware / software combination you might have to get Vista to upgrade the Windows Experience Index.

Go to the Welcome Centre (can be found in Control Panel)

View Computer Details

Beside "Rating" select Windows Experience Index

Select "Update My Score"

Let us know if that works.....

I did that a coupled of days ago, and just did it again now, 5.9 in all
categories.

I am thinking I should have gone with this card:
Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTX Graphics with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory

Instead of this one:
Nvidia Quadro FX 3700M Graphics with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory
