In general:

Large and/or highly detailed models call for a pro machine w/dedicated video, though high end cards (such as Quadro) don't seem to be worth the extra $-£-€.

Small models can run on just about anything that's reasonably new, with the possible exception of really low end Windows machines.

I know people who have integrated graphics cards in their desktop machines and they are running ArchiCAD fine.
The only question is: what happens if you have a larger project with a large 3D model (many polygons in 3D). Will the OpenGL performance of the graphics card be enough to handle it.
That is a good question.
Of course if you are not working with high 3D polygon count projects than I believe you should not have a slowness problem in 3D.

Do I run properly AC12 and Artlantis Studio2 with large detailed models, in
a Core2Duo 2.66 with 2gb 1.066mhz ram?

Thanks in advance.

Are there any stats or benchmark tests that show AC uses the NVIDIA 9600M to make a difference in speed over the NVIDIA 9400M?

I am in the market for a new macbook pro 15.4" 2.53ghz w/NVIDIA 9400M or 2.66ghz w/NVIDIA 9600M.

Check out this table:

<LINK_TEXT text="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... .29_series">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Nvidia_Graphics_Processing_Units#GeForce_9M_.289xxxM.29_series</LINK_TEXT>

Look under the GFLOPS (gigaflops - billion floating point operations per second)

Looks like the 9600M GT card (what the MacBook Pro has) is more than twice as fast as the 9400M (115 vs 53). This mostly counts in 2D and 3D navigation.
Looks like they can also have more memory. I would probably go with 512 MB of GPU memory just to be still good 2-3 years from now.

I would have to disagree on this. I was using a GeForce 7800GTX card before I upgraded to a new desktop machine. I spec'd a QuadroFX 1700. It's not a lot of money (two years ago I paid $250), and the 3D navigation AND 2D navigation and overall stability is MUCH improved.

To confuse things a bit, though, I would also like to add that I am in the laptop market now, and don't anticipate buying a workstation card. Right now I'm looking at an ASUS N71 series with the Radeon HD5870 card.
