Just rebuild the model (the bricks icon). My best guess for why it does it is to save on processor power - allows the software to run faster. If you have a drawing selected and click the rebuild button, it just rebuilds that one drawing, otherwise all drawings on the layout are rebuilt. Note that rebuild is different from update, which will reload the drawing.

Hope this helps...

<T>We are just starting to use plotmaker. Why when I add a drawing is the drawing so pixelated it is illegible? I know people use plotmaker all the time and don't have this problem, but I can't even get past the first few steps.</T>

Please include hardware/OS/AC version in your signature so you can get proper answers. You are probably using an older version of AC. With version 8 or 8.1 (can't remember which) drawings render properly in PM. You used to have to double-click the drawing to see it properly. In any case, it should print fine.

Which ArchiCAD? Which PlotMaker? Which OS?

What you describe sounds like ArchiCAD 7 and PlotMaker 2.1, right?

Thank you for your replies. Djordje, it sounds like you are familiar with my problem, we are still on ArchiCad 6.5 with Plotmaker 2.2. We are wanting to upgrade, but need to be sure that this is not the case. When we first saw ArchiCad, it was these versions and it worked fine. Not sure what gives. We haven't exploited ArchiCad to it's full potential, but are now ready to do so. Sorry, forgot to mention Mac OS 9.1. We are upgrading to OSX and I have been banging my head on a brick wall to get our principles to upgrade ArchiCad for years now, but since I am the modeller and the work I put out is good, they don't want to spend the money. With OSX, I want to take full advantage of it.

The placed file in pre version 3 looks pixelated on a zoom unless rebuilt.
Regardless it will print fine.

This in my opinion is one of the best features of the current version, whereby the placed file can be set to display a vectorial colour preview and is always clear.
The resulting layout book can now be used to browse to find specific plan or section info.

and yes you will need to upgrade. I think it will be worth it even though in my opinion v6.5 running version 9 was the most stable bugfree version ever of archicad. The current version is not bug free and crash free- although pretty good. (ver8 had a big rewrite). There is a maintenance upgrade currently available for international user and this may have may fix a number of the niggly isssues.
