It would pop up every now and then but I'd click "Continue" and it would still generate an image. But now, all I get is a white screen, which I can still orbit around etc, but there's nothing there.

I located SLA - 002 and deleted it, but I still get the same error message. Could anyone help me out please? Thanks!</T>

Amaranth:

There could be more than one slab (or other element) with this ID. You can view the entire model in the 3D Window, then use Find and Select to select all the elements with this ID.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

How do I use Find & Select to find all items with the specific ID? I can only find specific elements, like "Slab" and "Wall", which selects all slabs and walls etc. And is it possible to to use Find & Select in plan view instead of 3D view? Because my problem is that I can't generate a 3D view.

Amaranth:
You can use find and select in the plan view but remember you
must do the find and select in each story.
In your case, Edit->find and select->element type->all types
then hit "more choices" which defaults to pen color push the
button and select ID. You now see a button that says contains.
and to the right a text field. Click in the text field and type in
the ID for the slab. Then at the bottom right hit the "+" button.
You will then see in the lower left the number of elements selected
and if you don't see all of them then zoom extents. Do this
find and select on every story.
Hello Amaranth,
Is the situation now as follows:
you have deleted the only instance
of an entity with the ID "SLA-002" and still the 3D window
fails to process and you still get the error message
"Not enough edges in generatrix (SLA - 002)" ?
This continues to puzzle me because I have never
experienced this kind of error message in connection
with a tool element but exclusively with objects.
Also, the precise language of the error message seems incomplete.
Is this an exact quote of the error message you are getting ?
Thank you,
Yep, here's the error message:

I have some backup copies of the file (but they aren't identical because they were saved while I progressed with it), and I get the same error message with them, but when I click "Continue" the 3D view shows up fine there. It's just with my most updated file that I'm having this problem with.

I've ended up using one of my older files and I've redone the changes, so if the problem can't be fixed then it's not the end of the world, I'd just rather know what I did wrong for future reference. Thanks for the help either way.
One other approach to finding the problematic element is to keep cutting the model in half until you can identify the culprit. One method is to turn off half of the layers, check the model, if the error message appears, turn off half of those layers, etc. A similar method can be done with the heavy marquee to keep cutting the model in half.
