Its may be an OpenGL driver issue.

To test, do this: go to "3d Windows Settings" menu and change 3d Engine to "Internal Engine". Open a 3d window and if it doesn't crash then you may need to do update your graphics card driver (sometimes you may even have to go to an earlier version), check that the card is supported by Archicad and lastly turn down graphics card acceleration if the card is not fully compatible.

If all this fails just use the "Internal Engine"

I am having a similar problem. My model is fine in 2d, but when I switch to a 3d view, nothing is visible. All the items are there, if I select all, they all highlight, but nothing displays in 3d. I've tried all my 3d views, none work. The model was working up until a few days ago, and now I cannot see any objects in 3d view. If I render them with Lightworks, they are there, and visible, but will not display in OpenGL. Help!

I'm using a OSX Leopard, Archicad 11, fully updated.

I've attached a quick screenshot.

Very unlikely to be an ArchiCAD bug as you are the first to report this behavior... more likely a problem with your video card. Please give your machine specs - Intel/PPC, model video card, etc. Have you run ALL Apple Software Updates?
OK...this IS the symptom reported by the first poster in this thread, but is NOT the same problem as the most recent open problem in this thread (cannot see model in 3D window).

Did you try the solutions given to the first poster? Specifically, does AC crash if you open the 3D window with the Internal Engine, and NOT OpenGL? (You must switch engines BEFORE opening the 3D window of course.)

If so, then it is almost certainly a problem with your graphics card driver or the card itself - as your machine specs are just fine. Have you manually run Software Update on your Mac to be sure that you have all updates, particularly the graphics update that came out earlier this year?

GS has nothing to fix if you do not communicate with them: if you still have problems after the above steps, you must contact your local tech support / reseller. They may ask for a copy of your file. If they can reproduce the problem, then it will be sent on to Graphisoft. If not, they may help you diagnose what is wrong with your computer.

I sympathize with your frustration and hope the above helps.

Cheers,
Well, that's good news - you can keep working on your files. <E>😉</E>

One more thing you might try while you wait for Monday is to clean your ArchiCAD preferences as described in this article:

<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.archicadwiki.com/TechNotes/P ... 20Cleaning">http://www.archicadwiki.com/TechNotes/Preferences%20Cleaning</LINK_TEXT>

If you have set up a custom Work Environment (WE), then before doing the above procedure, Export the WE to your disk so that you can reload it later - particularly if you assigned your own special shortcuts, etc.

Good luck,
I think I have found the cause of the crash, or at least what I can do to prevent it. I am used to open the 3D window with the background image as in photorendering. If I change this in the 3D window settings to single colour instead my Archicad doesn´t crash. I´ve tested this now with different images and settings, but I end up with the conclusion that the "as in photorendering" causes the crash. Cleaning my Archicad preferences didn´t change this. But thanks for the tip.

Hi Irco,

Here's a virtual beer/coffee in case I was too disbelieving of you earlier!

You have indeed found a bug, which I just reproduced and am filing with GS. I could only get a crash to happen if the 'magnification' for the background image in the PhotoRendering Settings dialog was greater than 100%. Do you know if that was the case for you, too?

Cheers,
