<T>I have bought a 15” MB Pro w/- Retina display in preparation for using it for archicad 17 (soon to upgrade to 19). However I have noticed that I have chosen the 2.2ghz model w/- Intel Iris Pro Graphics. I am not very clued up on performance requirements, however I see the enhanced model has the AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics card.

Will be any issues in using the model I have bought? Just want to make sure I have not spent 3k on the wrong laptop

Spec as follows,
2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache

Intel Iris Pro Graphics

256GB PCIe-based flash storage

I am planning on using the MBP to power the program and use my iMac / Theatre display as a monitor via thunderbolt cable.</T>

Generally, a dedicated graphics card is recommended (but not required):
<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.graphisoft.com/support/syste ... ents/AC19/">http://www.graphisoft.com/support/system_requirements/AC19/</LINK_TEXT>

Intel's onboard video gets more powerful every year, so I can't say if it will be adequate for your needs when displaying the 3D OpenGL window - someone with the model might chime in, or if you have a standard return policy, you can try it and return your order if it isn't satisfactory?

Neither ArchiCAD nor CineRender use OpenCL ("C" not "G") which allows computations to be performed on the graphics component. So, the much higher OpenCL performance of the dedicated card doesn't buy you anything.

Do note that AC 17 is not listed as compatible with El Capitan, which you will receive with a new Mac.

Thanks for the reply and the information.

I am thinking I will have to see how it initially goes. Keeping in mind the return policy I may be able to exchange for the difference in cost.

I would like to hear if anyone is running the same model?
