Hi All,
I am new to this forum as my son is just about to start using AC20 and I am about to buy him a laptop to use.
He is starting a building design course at TAFE and they use AC20.
I have read the video card recommendations but just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience/advice with the following specs:

Lenovo Ideapad 700 17-inch with Intel i7 with 16GB Memory and FHD Panel

• Processor
Intel Core i7-6700HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)
• Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64
• Display Type
17.3"FHD IPS AntiGlare LED Backlight 1920x1080
• Memory
16GB(8+8) DDR4 2133MHZ
• Hard Drive
128GB SSD M.2+1TB 5400 rpm
• Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce 940M 2GB 2GB GDDR3
• Battery
3 Cell Li-Polymer
• Pointing Device
ClickPad
• Wireless
Intel Dual-band Wireless AC 3165 with BT 4.0

My only concern is the video card.
I don’t expect he will be doing high level stuff but I want to make sure that the machine is good enough.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks good to me.
The GPU has enough VRAM (2 GB) and GPUs are generally very strong these days. Also, lots of improvements have been made in ARCHICAD 19 so even a weaker graphics card gives good performance. However, if you have the means, and there is such a configuration available, a 960M or 970M GPU would provide even better performance longer.
In my opinion, the order of importance of system components for ARCHICAD is:

1. RAM
2. storage device
3. CPU
4. GPU

You have enough RAM, and you will have an SSD system drive, the CPU and GPU will be fast enough. Op. system and display resolution are also fine. So I think this configuration will be fine.
