Thanks for the answers.

Right now, I am running on 9yo Dell Inspiron, i7, 8gb ram, 2gb graphics.
Renderings I am running already elsewhere, so basically this is about flow of modeling.
What I have learned, RAM is most important.
Not sure how integrated graphic card like Intel Iris Plus could be a difference.

My projects are usually around 500mb large max.
does anyone have experience with Archicad working on newest MacBook Air (i7, 16gb RAM, Intel Iris Graphics)?

Thanks</T>

Hello se77e ,

I'm used to working with much lower hardware configurations than yours.
No doubt it will happen to you.

I first ran ArchiCad on a simple business PC with an Intel integrated GPU. Smaller, low complexity models and publishing ran fairly well on it. However, I was not running any renderings, nor introducing large projects, multiple complex objects, running concurrent AC sessions, or supporting external monitors as I now often need to do.

If you believe you will incur these additional GPU demands within the next few years, I believe you will find also having a mid-range dedicated GPU on board will provide much more support for those applications when you need them.

Hello se77e,

I have seen instabilities on the Windows operating system but not yet on macos (except AC22 3XXX with Catalina). Also the management of material resources also depends on the operating system. Beyond its stability, some OS are more greedy than others. Comparing hardware resources without considering the operating system doesn't seem fair to me.

Comparing hardware resources without considering the operating system doesn't seem fair to me.

A fair point. I did not go into it as se77e was speaking about a Mac Air. I‘ve been on an MBP for four years now and have been very satisfied with its stability. Windows runs on so many daily market purchased parts, performance can vary greatly. My Dell Precision was a great platform (though it would blue screen), while my subsequent Windows laptop (for mobility) while graphically very good, kept me spending about an hour every week dealing with constant driver updates and various conflicts.

In any case, I found a good dedicated GPU makes a big difference on either platform.
