No escape key function in AC 20

It works to resume to normal window from a youtube fullscreen video but does not work to deselect something on the cad screen. Just happened all by itself today. Any clues before I go to the IT shop and pee away more dollars?

Okay now. I decided to reinstall version 20 and the escape key works again.

Not okay again guys. Escape key doesn't work on my v20. Opened v21 and it doesn't work either. The escape key works with YouTube.

ARCHICAD has a specific command for Entering/Exiting Full Screen Mode.
In the Window menu you can find the "Enter Full Screen"/"Exit Full Screen" command, depending on whether you are/are not in Full Screen Mode. It has a default shortcut but you can change it to something else. You will not be able to assign "Esc" to it because it is used for many other things in ARCHICAD. I usually use the F12 key, if I need to.

Hi mate
The escape key is not working in ArchiCAD. I only tested the key with YouTube for isolating the problem and it worked in YouTube, but it does not work with ArchiCAD. This just happened out of the blue.

Hey Dennis,
I remembered this old post saying it seems to be related to open and un-docked favourite or profile palettes.
Close all unnecessary palettes and see if it still happens.

Do you have the latest updates installed for Archicad?
Or do you have any other programs running that may be 'hi-jacking' the ESC key?

I'll keep fiddling but the only new thing on my PC is a Digitech Webcam. All apps are running normally like Outlook email and 2nd copy backup software. AC20 just decided to stop using the escape key the other day.
I reinstalled v20 and it worked again. When I shutdown and restarted v20 the issue was back.
I change W/E to the standard one but no luck with the escape key, then I switch back to my W/E and the AC crashes.

I believe this is a bug - I have had the same trouble and others have mentioned it as well.

The ESC key cancelling a command is hard coded into Archicad so it can't be set in the Work Environment.
In fact you can't assign it to any shortcuts as it will just close the WE dialogue when you try to choose it.

Can you turn off the web cam software and see if it still happens?
Check you don't have palettes open on a second monitor and if they are open then dock them on the main screen.
Other than that try to stop everything else running except Archicad.

Then I would suspect another program is hi-jacking it from Archicad.
Other programs may still work - it may be just a clash with the way Archicad uses it - too technical for me.

So now the question is, is the ESC key assigned to any specific command for the web cam, and if so can it be reassigned in the web cam software?

Sorry Dennis, I misunderstood your question. I thought you wanted to use the Esc key to exit Full Screen Mode in ARCHICAD.
Now I understand it was not working at all for you. I am glad you managed to find the reason.

Thanks mate no probs. I have alerted the store and Digitech/Jaycar of the issue with ArchiCAD losing the escape key function when running the Digitech 1080p Web Cam product.
