Heads up to anyone considering buying a Mac Pro - there appears to be a major issue with ArchiCAD and the ATI Radeon 2600 cards that are the base Mac Pro graphics card - also used in the iMacs (slightly different model, but basically the same card).

I would suggest upgrading to the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB card .. although I can't confirm these cards are fine either - we are still trying to get one to test out.

I've just upgraded to a MacPro & Leopard.
I have been extremely impressed when comparing to my last Quad G5.
See attached for my config.
No problems in open GL or internal.
Some really cool things in Leopard.

Hi Rod,

Your screenshot shows that you just bought an "old" (2007) Mac Pro. Hope you got a good discount.

Owen is talking about the new ones, also known as Mac Pro "Early 2008" models. Faster bus, faster memory, Penryin quad-core processor chips, new graphics cards (ATI 2600 and, not shipping yet, nVidia 8800).

35% so took the opportunity. Beta is soon, and my son will inherit shortly.
Things change so quickly and the difference to my G5x4 helped my decision.
