Under MacOs 9 I used a very useful Apple Script software called 'Project Starter', that renamed the large number of a project folders documentation.
It was produced by Barry Isakson (www.architectronica.com)

Infortunately it does not work anymore under MacOs X neither under Classic.

Does anyone know any workaround or working method of renaming a large group of folder names?

Try a better finder renamer. Works well for OS X.

I emailed Barry and he was kind enough to update Project Starter for OSX. Since he never charged anything for it, I assume it's okay to share.
