As far as I know, you can run the INT with basically any key.
However there are localised version (CHE, GER, AUT, etc.) which won't run without a key purchased from the respective resellers.

The question was about the UK and the French, which I think won't work with the same one – a workaround could be to ask for the library and the template file, then all the attributes and settings would be the localised ones, then the UI doesn't really matter. There are certain features though, which are not present in every version of ARCHICAD, like this one:
Is this a joke ?

GS need to look seriously at this...REVIT have a facility to change langauges simply by changing the directory name in the properties......Graphisoft will loose me and will I am sure loose lots of people UNLESS this problem is fixed.

Please GS fix this problem asap.

As far as I know your license allows you to use any of the language versions up to the version number you are licensed for.
I typically use AUS language version, but in the past I have also installed INT, USA & UKI versions - all using the same language.

You can't change the language of Archicad at the touch of a button, but you can install more than one version at once.
You will need to rename the Program Folder after you install each one as otherwise Archicad will say it is already installed when you try to install a different version.

Give it a try and then post back if you are having any problems.

I currently have many versions and builds loaded and also a USA version for 21.
You can see the ones I have re-named, and to run them I just run the program file in that folder.
Barry thanks....

So I will need to install 2 versions for the x2 languages. FR and EN. ?

With regards to installation - when installing, I guess i just point to where the software will need to be installed? otherwise i guess the default settings - the C drive/ Graphisoft/ Archicad 22 will NOT WORK as there is already a version installed in the same directory.

I will give it a try and let you know.

How would the add-ons work? From memory, these dont ask where they are to be installed - they do so automatically.

Yes you will need to install both versions.

I install one, with all the add-ons and then I re-name the program folder.
Then install the other version, and because I have re-named the folder, the installer will not think I have it already installed and will install as normal. Then install add-ons for that version as well.

This is on Windows OS - I assume you can do similar if you are on MAC.

To run the Archicad in the re-named program folder, you will have to manually run the Archicad.exe file (Windows) or create a shortcut for it.

Should you ever need to update any of them, just re-name the folders so the one you are updating just says "Archicad 22".
Just try installing the 2 versions first.
If that doesn't work then maybe you will need the two licenses.
But I don't see how that will help.
You will still have to install both versions.
The license does not control the language in Archicad as far as I know.

My license says it is for Archicad 22 AUS, but I can still run the USA program.

I just checked to be sure.
As Barry said, just try it. There are people on the forum in European and Asian countries running their local version and the USA or INT (English language) version as contractors... and I've never heard of any of them having to buy a second license. That would be crazy...and I have to think the Graphisoft person who said that to you doesn't know what they're talking about.

As to your original question... I do not think we will see a universal version of AC where you choose the interface language any time soon. It would require a major software change to embed multiple language interface elements given the historical way the software has been written.
That would make sense.
I can run AUS, UKI, INT and USA because they are all English versions and would use the same interface but with different templates.
Sorry if I may have given you false hope.

It is of course possible to open a French file in an English version of Archicad or an Engilsh file in the French version.
Your interface will just be in a different language to the plan.
Hi Bary,

Yes indeed, this is the problem and the reason I posted the thread on missing files and adding libraries from different versions of AC.

Although right that you can open such files - the problem is that if a file has been created say in FR version - then all attributes, libraries and so on are missing when you open the same file in version EN.

Its not as easy as it sounds it would appear. Despite being able to open the FILE in version FR, in the version EN, the file opens with all the missing libraries. Trying to bring in the base file archiCAD 22 (FR) - has not been possible. first time round it says the file name is too long - changed and fixed that problem - then with the shortest path in the world - it then says the file is corrupt, which of course it isn't because it opens on a different machine with the version FR. I think AC INT just doesn't like other library types in other languages. I am unable to find a solution....which doesn't not sit great with me. - as you can probably imagine.

Any thoughts in addition would be greatly received....)
In theory you can ask for the used libraries, and load them onto the file. The other attributes should be present already (linetypes, fills, etc.). So unless you want to create a plan from scratch, you are good to go to go into a project if you have all the libraries used. If you have the template, you can start it from scratch, you will have everything in the same way, except the UI. E.g. I'm using the INT, but I have to use the HUN libraries and templates a lot, no problem with that.

I'm a bit confused about what you write with the long file names, it shouldn't matter, but if it does, just rename (e.g. FR22.tpl) and put it to the desktop for testing.

Usually it is workable, but that would be helpful if GS had a catalog with all the default templates and the necessary libraries, because right now I would need to download the version I need, save the .tpl and the libraries to my archive and delete the installed version of ARCHICAD...

The problem was that the INT version wasn't not allowing me to add / load the FR library.
You say you do it with HU files ?

Is it the folder itself you load or just the .icf files ?

See attached the error message.
INT version doesn't like loading in the FR library for some reason. Tried making the PATH NAME really short - beacause the first problem encountered, was that the file name was too long for windows. This is fixed.

Now the problem is that AC says the file is corrupt. It is not. Its being used on the FR version no problem.
The file being added is the base folder (same as the INT version which is called "ArchiCAD 22 library") with all .icf files inside it plus a few other files. I am simply trying to add the same folder but the FR version, into the INT version of AC 22. The file being worked on was done in AC 22 FR - hence the reason why when opened it says there are missing files......

thanks
Interesting. I've downloaded the French version (I did not choose the Swiss install when prompted in the beginning), and I was able to load the French default template (Modèle AC22 DEFAUT.tpl) and the library (Bibliothèque ARCHICAD 22) into the INT version.

I'm not on Windows, though. I will upload the library here, maybe it is working for you, as your installed one could be corrupted according to your screenshot (it will take some time to upload):
<LINK_TEXT text="https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f5at41vraqtg ... vJXKa?dl=0">https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f5at41vraqtgd8d/AACxlzWJEo2B_dgsvZMWvJXKa?dl=0</LINK_TEXT>

As I've said, I'm using HUN templates/libraries with the INT install with no problems, and the CHE template/library is also working (the CHE version would require a separate key), I don't have experience apart these three (INT, HUN, CHE). It would make no sense to me to put restrictions on the files themselves, that would just make international working impossible (or extremely difficult at least). The localisations of ARCHICAD itself are another issue, there could be some specific developments, etc., the linked video previously demonstrates that, I cannot find that feature in my INT version (?).

The AC22 FRA install is the default 3006 build on my computer – if you have a later one, and the library loading problem is related, I won't know that. I suspect that a repair could solve it, but first you could try downloading mine from Dropbox – I hope it's not against GS rules though...

Edit: I'm syncing other stuff as well, Dropbox says 40min until complete...
