Just installed the latest hotfix (4001). Opened our template file and my timer got to 18:10 before I killed the process. Stuck on updating Lib data. It was slow before but now it's just ridiculous.

Has this anything to do with teamwork?

Do you need to also update BIMcloud?

Hi Baz,

We don't use TW. irc BIMcloud is no longer required to be the same version as AC but I'll get IT to update BIM as well, just in case. Our setup is all our Libs (3) are loaded from BIMcloud (basic). CAD files are kept on local server. I've got a feeling the update didn't install correctly so starting from scratch as a clean slate to see if there's any improvement. Nope def comes up as 4001 but I'll check again

I suspect it's not the AC28 hotfix but the Library update 2 which runs as an installer (.exe) I've done a fresh install of everything and still can't open prior AC28 files. I'll re-install with hotfix only, no Library update and see if that works

I haven't installed the library updates because I only use select parts of the Garphisoft Library.

I wouldn't have thought it would make much difference though, as it is simply updated library packs.

However, if you are using BIMcloud to share the library, then the BIMcloud and local library will need to be updated as well.

Maybe it is that that is taking a lot of time?

Once done it should be fine - but as I mentioned I have no real idea as I don't use BIMcloud.

But libraries shouldn't cause a 'can't read plan' error if you are still getting that.

This may be turning into a separate issue but I fear still related to Hotfix 4001. Went from bad to worse. Completed a fresh installation of 28 and applied the previous hotfix (build 3120). Can open a blank file but I can't open our template which was last saved in 3120. I'm still getting the "Can't read Plan file" notification. Not even sure how this file has been corrupted if it wasn't "saved" in 4001 but if that is the case, open/repair fails too.

So, I copy over our current AC27 template also saved in build 3120 and it opens in 28. re-assign mods/hotlinks, all good. Re-assign BIM libraries from 27 to 28 and works, interestingly with quicker load times. I'm going to keep testing and find the root cause of the issue, will report back when I find something more conclusive.

Check the file size of the file that won't open.

Maybe it is corrupted and has 0 MB?

Also open Archicad and then FILE menu > Open > Open to bring up the browse for file dialogue.

Find the template that won't open and see what it says for version number in the bottom right corner.

If it shows no version number, then the file is corrupt - or has been saved in a newer version which is not really possible.

We have noticed a huge increase in processing time for the libraries loading from BIMcloud since the change to library packs. It is very important that this problem is addressed, as it is a big drawback in project opening times.

We have also noticed this slow load time alos, with the loading dialog stuck on 'Updating Local Libraries' - even when closing and opening within a few minutes.

A couple of tests I ran using a PLN (not TW file) with times given as an average of loading the same file 3 times after closing each time)

AC Version Libraries Loaded to: Loading time:

AC29 BIMCloud SaaS 2min 5sec

AC29 BIMCloud Basic 0min 40sec

AC29 Local (C:) 0min 25sec

AC29 Local Server (LAN) 1min 6sec

For comparison, loading the old Monolith libraries for AC27

AC27 BIMCloud SaaS 0min 28sec

AC27 BIMCloud Basic 0min 21sec

AC27 Local (C:) 0min 19sec

AC27 Local Server (LAN) 1min 0sec

From the above results, it looks to be the *libpacks* that are the main cause of the Project Loading slow down.

@GRAPHISOFT , please address this.

Curious to see if others have similar experience.

this is unlikely related to hotfix/update, but more on how libraries are checked and updated from Teamwork.

When you open a file (regardless of solo or TW) with libraries linked to a BIMcloud location, AC will go through and check for the changes on those libraries. If there are modifications, AC will download and update the local cache stored in your PC.

In the past, there were usually 5-7 libraries loaded into each file (whether it's local or TW). With the change to libpacks, we now have +30 separate "libraries" that AC needs to check. I suspect that because of the large increase in the number of "libraries", the checking time at opening increases significantly.

This issue was raised at the beta testing of AC28, however there hasn't been any solution to it so far.

Dear Fritz,

Thanks for raising this issue.

We are aware of the problem and have already kicked off an internal project to address it with high priority. We’ve added your case and details to that work. Our Developers team is actively working on a fix and we hope to have this resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and we wish you happy holidays!

I had also raised this problem long time ago, and it is still an ongoing big waste of time as we work on teamwork for all our projects.

https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/Libraries-objects/Libpacks-in-BIMcloud-take-long-time-to-load/m-p/674740/highlight/true#M51483
