I'm having issues with the ArchiCAD 28 - it keeps shutting down, doesn't have a certain moment when it shuts down, sometimes it shuts when I'm just working, sometimes when I open the 3d, sometimes when I just open a project, the screen is freezing and shuts down. This is happening for 1 month now, the shutting down been happening more and more often. I tried multiple ways, I deactivated the antivirus, I reinstalled Windows, eventually I installed a new motherboard and a brand new Windows from zero. Keeps happening the same issue, now I cannot access a project at all...

My system:

Intel I9 14900K

System Model Z790 AORUS ELITE AX

128GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti

The system is installed on a NVMe Samsung 980 Pro

Operating system used: Windows 11

You could also try to update the BIOS of the motherboard. There have been known issues with 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs. A replied to a similar issue a few days ago, here is my more detailed answer:

Intel's 13th and 14th Gen CPU issues

I have the same CPU which I have bought recently and the same issues, even though I updated the BIOS with the latest before I even installed the CPU. For some reason, Archicad is particularly prone to experiencing these issues. But in general it can lead to sudden crashes to desktop for multiple applications or sometimes BSODs.

The solution for me was to set all Performance Active Cores down to a ratio of 54x in addition to running the default Intel settings in the latest BIOS version. This can be done in the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility or in BIOS. While it does lower the performance, at least it can help achieve stability - I think it's the best you can hope for with this line of CPUs. You can also RMA your CPU once you've established that it's the problem, but there seems to be quite a chance you'll just run into the same issue again with a replacement i9 14900K.

In the worst case, you could also try disabling Turbo Boost entirely for stability.

Thank you for your support. I made the BIOS update last week, but from what I understand, is a bit too late for my processor, will consider buying a new one. Anyway you were very helpful since it was getting really frustrating not knowing what else I could do.

I have been having the same issue in AC29 with frequent crashes. Yesterday it was crashing every few minutes. Tried file repairs and unloading libraries, then stumbled upon this BIOS update tip.

My processor is an i9 13900k Raptor lake.

After the BIOS update there has not been a single crash. So relieved.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
