Powerful computer for mostly 2D work, preferably for long term

Hi everyone,

I want to build a stable, fast and silent computer which can be kept up-to-date for long term (say, 5-10 years), and would like to ask for your advice.

I make technical detail drawings in ArchiCAD (currently in ArchiCAD 27), so I mostly work in 2D placing external DWGs as references.

The main components of the planned configuration are:

CPU: Intel Core i9-14900KS 3.20GHz

Board: Z790 chip (e.g. Gigabyte Z790 Eagle AX (rev. 1.0) )

VGA: Sapphire 11335-04-20G Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB GDDR6 PULSE PCIE

RAM: Kingston Fury 64GB Beast EXPO DDR5 6000MHz CL30 KIT

SSD: WD 1TB Black SN850X with Heatsink M.2 PCIe M.2 2280

OS: MS Windows 11 Pro 64bit

Other planned components:

Power supply: Corsair RM850x 850W PCIe5

CPU cooler: Deepcool AK620 Zero Dark

Case: Silverstone Seta D1

What do you think - will this computer be powerful and stable enough to run ArchiCAD 27, or newer versions (28-29) fast?

Perhaps it seems to be a bit 'overkill' for 2D work, but I want to build it for long term, I want to use two 4K monitors, and DWGs placed in PLNs can put a surprisingly high load on the system (this is my own experience).

Can anybody see a bottleneck in the planned configuration, which should be eliminated?

Is anybody aware of any stability / incompatibility issues?

Any advice, personal experience would be highly appreciated.

Yes.

If you check the following web page:

https://www.graphisoft.com/us/resources-and-support/system-requirements

you will see that your planned configuration meets even the High-end requirements.

So, you should be fine for at least 4 or 5 years with this config.

I have an AMD config; I did not have any compatibility issues with that. Maybe someone else can speak about their i9 config.

make sure to also update the firmware on your BIOS if you decide to stick with the 14900.
