In order to install the new version (Archicad 29), do I first need to uninstall the current version (Archicad 28) I have installed on my computer?

Operating system used: Windows 11 24H2

No, you can install as many versions on your PC as you like.

You will probably find this to be the norm, rather.

Btw: A license includes always the possibility to use all older versions up to the version you bought, if you still find yourself enjoying a perpetual license.

Therefore, I understand that installing the new version will not upgrade the older version that it finds installed on the PC, but will create an autonomous installation of its own and thus both versions will coexist and someone will be able to run whichever one wants.
If I want to have only one version, the latest, installed on the PC, what process should I follow to maintain the same work environment (configuration, libraries etc.) in the new version as that I had in the older one?

Thanks in Advanced

Oh you're opening a can of worms there! 😄

Well, there is not really an automated process, you'll have to do it by yourself.

You can import the older Work Environment, but then all new stuff (like menu content) will not be there but have to be put in again for you to access it.

So I personally go through the hoop of redoing the WE with every new version, and only the keyboard shortcuts come with me without changes (mostly).

But like menus and toolbars I redo. But I also do not change that much anymore, so your milage may vary.

Libraries are either embedded (don't overdo that), or linked, so both will be fine when going to a newer version, since that is saved in the file itself.

You can have as many versions (even individual builds) installed as you want.

Whether you un-install the old version or not, you will need to update your Work Environment for each new version.

As runxel said, you can import it from older versions, but you will still have to update it for the new features (commands).

Deleting the old versions or not is completely up to you.

I see I have a couple of old tech previews I should delete as they will no longer work.
