topic Warning: First JPEG virus is out! in Installation & update

<R>I came across this on BBCnews today:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3701640.stm

It looks like the first virus/worm that embeds itself in a JPEG picure has been released. Of course, the attacker uses porn sites to spread it! But I'm sure it will spread to all areas where picture files are used.

As usual, this problem doesn't concern us Mac users, because it exploits a problem in how Windows handles jpg files. Windows users can however get some protection it seems, by avoiding Microsoft software as much as possible. If you don't use Internet Explorer for surfing and not Outlook for mail, you're safer. But don't use Windows Explorer for looking at the pictures, either!

The safest option is as usual to buy a Mac. <E>😉</E></R>
