I have AC8.1 at home using WinXP home edition. Works fine for me, I have also used AC 6.5, AC 7.0 student version on my computer and never really had any problems. You might want to check what service pack you have for WinXP. You might have a conflick with other software on your computer. WinXP update is located here <S></S>http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp<E></E>

The program was not officially tested on Win XR Home, only on Win XP Professional. This is why it says in the documentation that Win XP Pro is the required operating system (or Win 2000). Maybe Microsoft can answer whether there is any big difference in the two versions that may cause a problem.
