I posted it as a wish list item back in march of last year. The post was titled "Interface with 3-D TV and VR glasses" under publishing wishes. Unfortunately not to many people responded to the pole.

Now, One year later there has still not been any advancement from ArchiCAD on this technology. I would so love to be able to navigate through the model with the 3-D glasses on to get a real idea of the feel of a space that I am designing. It would help so much with the clients as well. Especially the ones that have no concept of space that is presented to them on a flat screen.
It says that many OpenGL applications support this astounding feature.... but, of course, not ArchiCAD.

We will all have this five years from now.</R>

Yes. I obviously underestimated how long 3D would take for the everyday user. Sigh.

Currently if you have a monitor capable of 120Hz (basically every monitor on the market) you can install a shuttering 3-D glasses and have the capability now for only $80. The technology is totally here and widely used in the gaming market.

The Software engineers at Graphisoft just need to get on board the current trend and give us the ability to use the current technology.

In other places on the forum, you'll see how Archicad models are exported to gaming applications for such 3D. If you like that sort of stuff, Archicad lacking a shotgun, flamethrower or grenade launcher object.

In my work for the Zoo I routinely use the Google Sketchup Import to create Animal and Plant Library parts from the absolutely Huge Free 3-D Wharehouse. However I have yet to import any sort of weapons. I do not think our donors would appreciate the sight of a hunter aiming at an endangered animal in a new exhibit they are funding. It would not send the right message.

virtual world + gun object = virtual hunting of endangered species = fund raising.

Chris:

BIMx supports 3D views, from the BimX Manual:

Stereo View
BIMx can display the model in stereo view modes. The following methods are available:
• Left/Right
• RED/ CYAN
• OFF
Note that you need special stereo view glasses to enjoy this BIMx feature.
