As with AC8.1 I still have not been able to detect a difference between the options, so I usually leave it off.

<T>Hi,
I am getting a black screen at start up of AC9 after choosing a project. It lasts until after the library loads and then goes back to white background. Any reason why? Just annoying.
Thanks,
If you have checked "optimize drawing method for high performance display card" you will get the black window at start up.

Thank You, it took care of it. But is it a better option to turn it off or on? You signature shows same type of PB as mine (PB 1.33 G4 17" 2 gig ram).
Thanks a Million, I thought I am getting a black out
On my PB the OpenGL option is faster, maybe the 1gig?
OpenGL speed is related to Video RAM. Not CPU RAM.

There is a threshold window that OpenGL can operate within that varies depending on the rendering load - the options and polygons. If you have 64 Megulons of Video RAM, this is the basic foundation point.

Exceeding the window size results in instant jerkiness. Make the window smaller. Sometimes the window is smaller on a laptop and we don't notice so it seems to run smoother. Reduce the resolution of your desktop display and see what happens.

It is all a bunch of dots.
