Cannot Install, quicktime not found... But its there!!!

On installing AC8.1 I simply cannot get one machine to install correctly.

It keeps coming up with "Quicktime 6 not found"...

I have tried re-installing QT6

I have downloaded the latest version from the net and installed that.

Then I went to add/remove programs and removed it...

re-installed it from the AC8.1 CD... Still no go...

Help... Please help... *sob* *sniffle*

OS? Admin rights? Etc ...

Ive been trying to paste the solution for a while now, but for some reason a website protection warning keeps coming up...

Here is a simplified verion of the answer that hopefully wont upset the web protection software.

Remove quicktime using add and remove programs from the control panel
and then manually remove the quicktime folder from c:\program files\
then remove quicktime*.* from the system 32 directory

Now, re-install quicktime.

ArchiCAD will work perfectly now.
