Hi Karl,

"As Woody said, any set of settings can be saved, and used again in the future. "

I tried this function, but I think it is not working. I saved two criteria combinations but if I select one of them in the loading list and press OK nothing happens. The criterias do not change. Do I do something wrong?

And please tell me how to find and select all the doors set in brick walls but not in concrete walls... I think some parameters are missing in case of doors/windows criteria list, those from the containing wall....
Or how do you search for all the doors wich have eg. Pine material leaf and Whitewash frame? Dialog box parameters are missing as well.
I think Find and select is a useful function which should be improved in the future.
Even at its minimum size I find myself moving it around so I can see things. If it wereas you suggest it would take up more real estate. I like it the way it is.

Rakela, this is a VERY powerful tool which I use all the time. It's especially powerful when used in conjunction with the 3D window where one can find and select similar objects or elements on different floors all at once.

You can also save search criteria (see picture). I suggest you take a look at the very complete explanation of this tool in ArchiCAD Help.
I think if you learned how to use it properly you would agree with me.
sorry for being kind of rude before but, teach me how to get to the last item in the list without going thru the process of 'search more or show more' or something like that, and/or not go thru the process of 'remove criteria' one by one also....im sure im missing something then, as usual i must add.....and thx vm in advance....

i durn agree with you that is a powerful tool, regardless of the low % of use compared with others tools.

You do realize that each 'choice' is a button, right? So, in the attached screenshot, you just click the button to get a menu of items appropriate to the element at hand ... and if you want the last item, you just select it.

This is so simple, surely you have a different complaint?

Find & Select is one of the most powerful things in AC. I use it continuously throughout the working day (via shortcut key), primarily using the "copy settings" button (red arrow at right of screenshot) [or the pick up settings option to alt-click an element] to match the settings of a selected element so that I can select everything else either identical or similar to it.

As Woody said, any set of settings can be saved, and used again in the future.

If I were to wish for anything for F&S it would be just to have fewer clicks to load/save settings ... put a little file open and disk-save icon instead of the two steps through the flyout menu that Woody illustrated.
and dont forget the eyedropper to get parameters from an element. My only gripe is that name does come at the top of the list for objects as 90% of the time (for objects) I am searching for a name

thats it!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am voting 'not need it' and if there were something calld 'ridiculous complaint' i would obviously vote for that...
thx very much to all of you.

normally the 'copy settings' is good for me but i happend to need a narrower search and i didnt realize that with only a couple of 'criterion' wdws would have gotten to the bottom of it.
