Can anyone advise? I am a long time user of AC 6.5 and want in the short term to upgrade computer from blue G3 running OS 8.6 to faster G4 running OS 9. I need to purchase a Griffin iMate ADB/USB adaptor for USB connectivity but understand that this needs OS 9.1 minimum to work. Can anyone confirm whether AC 6.5 will continue to work without glitches on OS 9.1?

Thanks, Andy J

As I recall.....ArchiCAD 6.5 was not supported by OSX; You needed to upgrade to ArchiCAD 7 at the very least and preferrably to 8. That was reason I upgraded when I moved to OSX.

Graphisoft will give you an OSX compatible working copy of 6.5 as part of their 'legacy' software but I've never needed it so I never tried opening it.

I had a Blue G3 as well; After 6 yrs, it doesn't support OSX.4 - tiger. It will run ArchiCAD 8 or 9 with Panther (OSX.3) at the most.

Honestly I would go to 9 as soon as possible before version 10 arrives. I'm in the process of doing that as well since I'm not sure how much longer I can use 7 with the advances going on with Apple's Operating System. (On the other hand; 7 runs like blazes on a G5!!!! AND no crashes!)
Not a Mac head myself - but have heard nothing but good news about the new Macs with OSX and 9 ...

Seems it is time for you to do a serious, full, hardware and software upgrade?

I think everyone has missed the point on this question. Andy is stuck in the dark ages. He wishes to only upgrade to a mac operating system 9.

While I can barely remember that far back, Andy I think what you are proposing will work. It would be much better to take the plunge and upgrade the OS to system 10 and the AC to 9. But if that is not possible, AC6.5 should have no problems with OS9. If it is possible, I would trade in the serial key for a new USB.
