anyone get 6.5 to run in classic mode in osX.3 yet?

I only need to do it so i can move all the 6.5 details into 8.1 on my laptop while traveling !

I can't get the key installer to work like it used to, and new version of the driver doesn't seem to do it either. is it not possible anymore?

I suppose I can just open the 6.5 projects in 8.1 and convert them that way, but it would still be nice to get 6.5 to work..

thanks!
Katie Bertsche
various Mac G4s and a new 1.25 mhz powerbook, OSX.3

We have had the same problem with 6.5 and OS X 10.2 & 10.3 What we now do is open up ArchiCAD 6.5 projects in 7 as this runs natively in OS X and is not too different from 6.5.

Another option is that contained on the ArchiCAD 8.1 CD under support you will find a copy of 6.5 that should run with the version 8 dongle.

Hope this helps
Just as a side-note, I believe AC 8.1 can open earlier files as old as ArchiCAD 4.5. So you don't have to worry about that.
in your ./Applications/Utilities folder you should have a 'Software Restore' application. run this (even on newer macs without 'classic' preinstalled) and it will give you the option to install OS9 classic on your machine . . .
would this procedure give classic emulation, or restore the actual OS 9 "System Folder" ?

I am able to run classic emulation, but AC 6.5 will NOT even install because of a <S></S>missing<E></E> OS 9 "System Folder"
ah! i see the problem. it installs a system folder for classic emulation unfortunately - not an OS9 startup system. . . but this could be something to do with OS9 disk drivers.

when you reformat a hard drive (from the install disk> "Erase Volume" or similar) in OSX now you have the option of installing 'OS9 drivers'. maybe if this option is taken, the disk can be used as an OS9 startup . . . ? not 100% since i haven't used 9 for a long while now . . .

sorry for the earlier misunderstanding. let me know how you get on . . .
You don't have to boot in 9 to be able to run ArchiCAD 6.5. It's enough to run the classic shell. However, you have to modify WIBU setup to be able to use the WIBU key. See Archiguide article at:
