topic MS Intellipoint Driver in Installation & update

<T>Hello Talkers,

I use a 5-button IntelliMouse Optical USB Mouse and am very pleased with it. The driver that I use with this mouse is the IntelliPoint

I was on the road and forgot the mouse and went to purchase a replacement. The Replacement was a IntelliMouse Explorer (Also 5-button) the Intellipoint driver that it cam with is the 5.20.413.0.

I am not please at all with this Mouse (I guess my thumbs are shorter than mosts because the 2 extra buttons are on the thumb side and I have difficulty "reaching" the forward button) and am going to return it and look for a Non-Explorer Model.

Well, now back in the office I was curios about the Driver to use with My "old" IntelliMouse Optical USB. Mircosoft website states that the Intellipoint 5.2 is the current driver with Windows XP. It is a bit different. The Wheels default setting does not allow for panning with click and the scroll wheel does not work in AC by default. I can assign the Wheel now to a Program Specific function (AutoScroll)

Question is : I remember some saying that the old 4.0 Driver worked better. Any Ideas if the 5.2 driver is best with ArchiCAD?</T>
