Thanks Rick for the reply but plotting is not a problem, it works fine. Printing causes the crash on both the HP 1220 and the 500ps.

<T>I just sent the following to my reseller, but wondering if anyone with similar print set up is experiencing any problems.....

All of a sudden I am unable to print directly from Archicad to either my HP Deskjet 1220c or my HP 500PS with HPGL card. Archicad crashes as soon as I issue print command. The print dialog box does not even have a chance to open.

The only recent change is I installed the latest patch 2219 USA full. I have submitted bug report, the latest bug id being:

2006-03-29-17-19-28-9221

I can still plot to 500ps. Plotmaker is unaffected. Other applications are unaffected.

I have already removed all print related .plist files, all Archicad .plist files, rebuilt all permissions, emptied all caches, deleted all log files and restarted.

Any other suggestions.</T>

Have you tried plotting to file, just do see if the crashes? plotflow?

I am back printing to both printers. Brute forced it by trashing everything vaguely relating to printing both on the system side and Archicad side and then reinstalling drivers from fresh downloads. Appears to be working.
Why can't these cosmic jokes occur at some point other than when new software is installed or modified.

When I first moved to the mountains I learned you need to install an FM antenna to get any reception. After a few hours do this, I joyfully turned on my radio, and I went from a bad signal to none. After many frustrating hours redoing etc.. I learned the station had their transmitter blow out at the same time! It is a cosmic joke... you hit the nail on the head.. surrender
