I am assuming you meant widening the door to 3'-4" instead and call that as the masonry opening. Depending on the scale, graphically it may show the dimension stringer dimensioning the door width while calling out as masonry opening. This could lead to confusion and finger pointing later on the field.

<T>After have door 'D1 Metal 10' inserted into a masonry I am unable to dimension to the masonry opening. Instead dimension marker is only able to select the jamb opening, which is 4" narrower per my setting. I did have the 'Frame depth=wall thickness' deselected in the Door Selection Settings window.

Any suggestions?

I am Mac Powerbook G4 user.</T>

He means the parameters (called "Oversize") on all the door objects that allows you to place a larger opening around the door.

Tom:
Where is the 'Oversize' setting located? I looked in both the Door Selection Settings and the Library Object window for this door.

Right now no nodes are displayed for the outside edge of the door frame, only the inside is active.

I think the <S></S>marker <E></E>only picks up the nominal size and I'm not sure there's any way around it without some GDL work.

Cheers,
Thanks Tom & Link.

It does not matter if I increase the Rough Opening Size. The problem persists.

As long as I don't see a node at the edge of masonry opening I will not be able to pick up the dimension. GDL is probably the answer. I hope Graphisoft has a solution for this and quick.

it looks as though the USA version is different to the INT version in this respect (or maybe just in terminology?)....

with the INT version we have two oversize controls: 'GSOpeningOversize' and 'tolerance'. if the 'GSOpeningOversize' is used the rough opening is lumped in with the door object as a whole and therefore the marker can pick up either the hole in the wall or the leaf size, etc...

if 'tolerance' is used, the oversize is applied as a gap between the door object as a whole and the wall itself. in this case the builders work dimension (rough opening) can't be read without more extensive GDL work. do you have both options? and if so have you experimented to see determine the benefits and drawbacks of each?

using cadimage's 'door and window builder' actually makes this kind of thing a piece of cake too . . .
`/archiben:
Perhaps I missed it but so far I could not find the controls you describe in my Door Selection Settings window (USA version).

kllment:
Although USA version is different (see my attachment), your attachment prompted to look even closer at my control settings. I am now am able to dimension to the masonry opening just like you show on your drawing after I turned ON 'show all hotspots' under Floor Plan Symbol.

Thank you both and everyone else who tried to help.
