<T>Hello,
Has anyone encountered this.
Working in OS 10.3.3, I open any classic application,
the classic environment opens, I close the classic application,
the classic environment is still loaded, In OS 10, I open an AC 8.1
project and the following dialogue appears:

"hardware protection key not found.
This dialogue will close as soon as the
hardware protection key is found.
you can...."

Note that AC is completely loaded and the project is open.

This dialogue stays open for a moment then disappears,
then appears again if I take any action in AC, then disappears,
then appears again.

If I turn of the classic environment no more dialogue.

I suspect that once again it has something to do with
AC 6.5 and AC 8.1 v2 fighting over the dongle.

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Peter,

You probably don't have WkClassicNotSeizeDriver.kext extension installed. (it should be in the Extensions folder in System) This prevents classic applications to access the WIBU key. If this system extension is not installed and classic environment is open, the access to the key will be slow and unpredictable. You have to start the system components installer in the "ArchiCAD/System Components" folder to re-install the WIBU driver.
Greg,
Thank you for your response. There is an article about the wibu-key at
<LINK_TEXT text="http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archi ... assic.html">http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archicad/archiguide/wibuinclassic.html</LINK_TEXT>
that explains what the kernel extension does.
Since I need to be able to work in AC 6.5 and in AC 8.1 and
I do not want to go through this business of installing/un-installing the kernel extension, I will turn off the classic environment when I want
to work in AC 8.1.
The reason for my query was that I was worried that something
else was wrong that I did not know about.
You assured me and the article conferms that this behavior
is "normal", if not ideal.
Thank you,
theres a handy little program called ClassicSpy on version tracker which puts a button in the menu bar from which you can start and stop classic and see if it's turned on or not...thats how we get around that little problem.

cheers,
