I don't think it is an ArchiCAD problem. I would guess it is something more fundamental.
Maybe virus, maybe unstable operating system, maybe faulty hardware. Hard to tell from this.

Edcad,
did you manage to solve this problem, I have exactly the same symptoms after installation of Archicad 9u.
Archicad will run as an local or domain adminstrator but not as an ordinary user.
It returns:
Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022) Click Ok to terminate the application.
AFAIK, you have to be a power user at least, inthe standard Windowspeak

Djordie,
Thanks for the information.
Do you know, or can you point me towards any documentation of exactly what rights are needed in order to allow an ordinary user to run the software as giving all our archicad-user students Power User rights is a bit of a blunt instrument and a possible security problem.
I have the same problem:

After installing ArchiCad 9 as an administrator I got the following error message:

Application errors with error "0xc0000022 failed to initialize"

I cannot run so many programs etc Antivirus programs, and of course ArchiCad, when I log in to windows as a normal, or a power user! I can only use my computer normally when I log in as an administrator! But it's not secure! I'm sure it's the bug of the ArchiCad, not a virus or a malware program!

I solved the problem! I changed the user called XY from normal user to administrator than run the setup again. I chose the REPAIR function than changed back the user XY from administrator to simple user.
Important! If you do the same method as the original administrator it won't work!
Good luck!

I have got this problem....

I installed ArchiCAD 10 but i cannot launch archicad window. It seems as though it tries to launch but it closes immediately. I have an AMD computer and i think that is the problem because on a pentium computer it works just fine as far as i know. The components are:

Processor: Athlon 4800 2,4Gb
Memory: 2Gb
Motherboard DFI
Graphics Card: 7600GT

i tried to install the new Wibu keys but it didn't work either.... nor did the student version i had previously downloaded.

Please... could anyone help me??

Did you install as an Administrator?

Yes I believe so. If by Administrator you mean the computer's default user and not the guest user, yes that is what i did... i think. I mean... all my software has been installed this way i guess. Maybe there's something i misunderstood, could you please lead me through how to install from the beginning?
Thank you so much!

I haven't solved my problem yet.... and i really don't know what else to do... I've installed the correct Wibu keys, i signed in as an Administrator... i installed all the necessary software... java etc. Please.... it is kind of urgent. If anyone knows... Somebody told me that i should clean the registry first. Is that the case? I really need your help.

This is a weird one. I have the same cpu, so it isn't the AMD.

I would recommend checking the application log for errors. Try to start ArchiCAD and then immediatley right click on My Computer and choose Manage from the context menu.

When the Management Console window opens expand Event Viewer (I think) in the left pane and then highlight the Application log. Look for any errors that just happened since you tried starting AC. If none are there also check the system log.

Post some screenshots of the logs if you can.
