Ergonometric Mouse for Mac

Does anybody knows which mouse it´s more comfortable to use for archicad, artlantis, piranesi, photoshop, etc. I´m not very sure if microsoft has one for these softwares on mac.

Comfort is a personal matter, you will have to try them yourself so see what you like best. I like small travel mice that I hold in my fingers. Others like large mice that you can wrap your hand around.

Most USB mice will work with the Mac. AFAIK ALL mice with just two buttons and a scroll wheel will work without special drivers. If you want more buttons, check to make sure there are Mac drivers for the mouse you want.

I have always had good experiences with Kensington mice; I have not been impressed with the Logitech mice I have used; I used a Microsoft mouse for a while and it worked just fine (I didn't like the shape though).

I recommend you mice with more than three buttons. Thus you can assign Del to one of the buttons - it's very convenient. I don't know if there are any like that for Mac though - haven't worked on Mac for years myself

i use the macally 'icemouse':

3 buttons, works well with all of my applications out of the box (don't install the macally driver: let apples own driver run it - it's far more affective).

BTW - microsoft mice work no problem on a mac, again out of the box and without installing any drivers. but we have found them to break far too quickly . . . !

Make sure to give a track ball a try. You never have to pick it up for long moves. The large ball makes precision moves easy. I love my new Kensington Expert Mouse (yes, it’s really a track ball). Smooth optical movement. Built-in wrist rest. Four programmable buttons. And the greatest thing yet in a track ball, a scroll ring (around the ball) instead of a wheel. Very smooth.

Excellent choice. I'm using the older version of the same mouse and cannot imagine doing without the 5 buttons and scroll wheel. I'm curious to know if the tilt wheel functions as advertised for scrolling sideways in ArchiCAD.

It doesn´t just the scroll up and down with zoom (in-out) like autocad. But, this mouse its better than the original mac. with the right botton you can open the window, that on mac you need control+click.

Just a thought: To relieve my mouse arm I-don't-remember-what-it's-called-syndrome, I got a Wacom Graphire tablet. It includes oboth an excellent mouse and a pen. Using both alternately is a really good way to stay out of mouse arm trouble.

And the pen is very handy in applications like Photoshop, Piranesi, and Sketchup, while also useful in Archicad!

I'll second that. I use a Wacom Intuos tablet, and it is far more comfortable than a mouse. It as 4 user-defineable buttons too (Mac and Win) including contextual menu activation (right-clicking).

Just a thought...on Windows (haven't tried it on my Mac since I use a non MS mouse there) you have to run the wheel troubleshooter in the Mouse Settings control panel app to fix the wheel zoom problem. Once you do this for both AC & PM it will zoom and pan properly in both apps.
