If they don't want to provide you with a demo, they deserve that you buy an Autodesk product <E>😉</E>

No, seriously, the lack of easily available demo-software and the lack of positive-commercial insight of resellers keeps surprising me.

I learned to appreciate ArchiCAD from the 5.0 demo-version (I even could make something usable in it, although could not save). That is a good plus-point for an application, to show that the demo is usable, even without proper training.
Some software producers avoid a demo-version, because their product is too complex and using it in demo might turn people away from ever purchasing it.

You local reseller should be the one to provide you with it.

No, but you can order a demo CD. The link is in the previous message.

In the UK they don't have an 8.1 demo, so it would be the 8.0 demo. I contacted one reseller, and they promised to send a demo pack, but 2 weeks later I haven't had anything yet...Fantastic sales service guys...makes me want to come back and buy from you again...! Also tried the link, but still I wait...

Am playing on my friends student version on his laptop...Version 8.0 though. Dare I even try and approach our local high and mighty resellers and ask for an 8.1 upgrade...Hmmm.
A demo version of 4.55 convinced me of Archicad's superiority. Though it lacks the print and save features, I was actually modeling a small project with it and taking polaroid pictures of my screen (all the while hoping the power didn't go out). I convinced the boss to purchase it, and have been using it productively ever since.
I hope you get your demo copy. It sold me on Archicad.
