Archicad crashes

<T>Dear Talkers

We are experiencing problems with random Archicad crashes.
We can't find the cause of these and we don't even get a bug report. I had this first occur two weeks ago, and a colleague experienced the same on the following day. We then upgraded the system software and the problem seemed to be resolved until after this last weekend when it started to crash again. Also occurred on three other stations as well this week.

These are the statistics:
Occurred on 4 G5's and 1 G4 machine
All running AC9.0 INT (1965) in Teamwork
Network key (10) and 4 loose keys.
Autosave still works.
Three different projects.
Crashes occur randomly when working in Archicad or even when in Plotmaker, AC closes in the background. Also when the computer is idle AC closes without warning. Other programs are unaffected.

Any suggestions as to the probable cause are welcome.

Regards</T>

Nick,

It may be the same problems several of us had with crashes on close. See this thread: <LINK_TEXT text="http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/vie ... php?t=5352">http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=5352</LINK_TEXT>.

I finally cured mine by clearing every ArchiCad, PM & Graphisoft preference and cache file, then resetting permissions. This meant I had to reset all my keyboard shortcuts, desired pallette shapes, etc.

I suspect that it was related to a Mac security update, though I don't know for sure.

My grandparents lived in Den Haag, until a wayward American bomb landed on their house in 1944, and they moved to Laaren.

I'm having the same problem as noted in the original post, except only on one machine and with Windows XP Pro sp2. The problem has been happening on the machine randomly since we got it (the PC is a dell Precision 380 w/ 2GB RAM, P4 duo 2GHz, and a 256MB video card).

The original trouble was with AC9, but Friday I installed AC10 and now the problem is worse. Even if I go back to AC9 and try to open projects it crashes randomly. It seems to happen consistenly when trying to change from floor plan to 3D view, but it happens randomly when doing nothing more inocuous than clicking the mouse to focus on an object. I've got the latest patches for v9 and 10.

btw, the same project file that's causing this trouble on the one system works fine on all other machines tested (which is so far 3 others).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
