R8 OK - R7 won't start!

I've been running both versions successfully for several months. R7 would occasionally not start but a reboot did the trick. The only change I've done is remove my 19" and 17" CRT's in exchange for two 17"(real) Flat screens. The screens are running at 1280x1024 but I get the same problem at lower res. Graphics card is Matrox G450 dual head 32MB.
The problem only really started straight after the new monitors were hooked up.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Contracting to document in R7 and I have to supply R7 pln's.

I suppose you tried to reinstall? The Anniversary edition, or whatever is the latest Vegemite 7?

Should have checked the obvious
I was too excited with my new screens to do the "logical" thing.
Simple reinstall didn't fix it.
It took a double uninstall/reinstall ( 7 and 8 ) to get it working.
