Hello Roman,
I am glad you recovered your project.
What a relief.
I hope you didn't have too much 2D work in
your section windows.

I had saved my solo project while in 3D window and then closed ArchiCAD10. Now I can't open it. It starts open and screen goes right to 3D window and then it freezes with blank 3D window and program is not responding any more. It happened to me recently and I was able to open
autosaved backup file (that with red mark), but it had been saved in 2D window. Now I can't open even that file (probably saved in 3D window also). I tried to restart Archicad and Windows as well with no succusses. I'm in panic of losing this project. All others projects open fine.
Can anyone help me , please.
Roman

Sorry, Roman, I can't help with your problem. I would just like to say I always always ALWAYS go to my base floor plan view before I save a project, even if it is just when going out to lunch or (in AC9) to update layout book but carry on working in PLN file.

It bugs me when I open someone elses file and you're zoomed in who-knows-where.

Why do you ALWAYS save and close in base floor plan view? Did you experience this too? If it is known issue, why there is no warning about this somewhere in manual or so? I thought it has something to do with graphic card maybe. Thus I am afraid that I will have to do all work on this project again. That is bad chimera.
Previously the save function did not work from the 3D window. The "Save As..." would come up instead to save the current view as an image. I have not had problems with saving from 3D in 10 so I don't know what has happened to you.

You should try to merge the problem file into a new blank one. That might recover your work.

Roman

I always save in base floor plan because I am pedantic (read "anal"). But no, i had not experienced your problem. As Matthew said, you couldn't save project from 3D window prior to AC10, so I guess that is one reason why I never tried it.

BTW, I doubt that the manual would ever include "you <S></S>can<E></E> save from the 3D window, but don't, 'cos it doesn't work properly"

Cheers

Ok, I did some tests with one backuped project and this is what I found.
When I hit save button while in base floor plan window, I can turn to 3D window and close AC10 (without saving again) and everything is OK.
When I hit save (not save as) button while in 3D window and close AC10
from that window or turn to floor plan and close (without saving again), I can't open that project anymore, for it goes as I mentioned in my first post.
Not that i would like to save and close in 3D, but sometime I do it accidentally and disaster is here.

You should try to merge the problem file into a new blank one. That might recover your work.

Can you explain, please, what do you mean? I don't know how to do it.
Thanx
Hello Roman,
You have discovered something very important.
I hope GS is reading your post and tries to do something
to warn other users.

About your question about merging, Matthew is probably
busy or he would have posted back by now, so I will
try to answer your question.

Merge is a command found in the file menu that copies
an entire project and pastes it into the currently open file.
The original file is left untouched.
The layers and attributes of the currently open file remain
and any layers or attributes in the original file that are not
present in the the currently open file are added.

You need to know that when a project is merged all section/elevation
windows are re-linked to the model and all 2D work done in those
windows in the original file is lost. This is something that is not
mentioned in the Help files.

Thanx Peter. I did merge and recover my project. I must do a little work to get it in order, but that's nothing in comparison to start drawing project again.
