Thanks Djordje,
I took the plunge and ran the updater. Strangely, the only loss was the preference to show 'drag/rotate a copy'. The pcs updated fine.

Previous patches required running the updater only with a fresh copy of AC. Is this step no longer required for build 1410? My reseller had no problem running it on his pc and suggested I should just run it over my customized app on my G5. A Mac colleague ran the updater with a fresh copy. (Better safe than sorry, he says.) I have a chart of my revised shortcuts/prefs, so a fresh copy would not be a problem. However, I'm more concerned about the other 4 pcs in the office having problems. Any known problems either way?

Mabe Ng Roche
Cutler Anderson Architects
G5 dual/1 mb/128mb ATI Radeon/dual 18" sony lcds/AC8.1

AFAIK no. It ran smoothly on all the installs I updated, some of them rather heavily souped up.
