RAM - YOU NEED ANOTHER GIGULON to max out.

You COULD get a 256 M card, but that can only help you navigate in OpenGL - the actual rebuilding of ArchiCAD files is independent of the Graphics card.

You are facing a file/layer management issue.

By willienillie having layers turned on in a complex model, the system slows down too much - until next year when things get fast enough [always NEXT year]. You can cope by disciplining your visible layer sets - and by asking for a simplified model in OpenGL plan views. See attached.

<T>Got a new system with Pent D, 1G DDR2 RAM, & PNY Quadro fx 1300 (128M) with PCI Express. And Archicad is still slow with massive files. Should I invest in more RAM or sell my 1st born for a new video card?</T>

I concur. Keep the kid, buy the RAM. I just added 1GB to make 2 in my new Macbook and the difference (particularly in Windows) was BIG.
